Behind my Blog:

I had never really ever thought about starting a blog before. I was never good at keeping a diary or a journal when I was younger, and I thought it’d be something similar to that. It all started at the beginning of this year after a house I was trying to purchase fell through. It was pretty devastating to me because I thought of it as my dream house for this point in my life. I had been trying to make it work for almost half a year, but in the end it was pretty much a con. More background on exactly what happened can be found this previous post: This week on Peas Romaine Calm!

After all that went down, I was feeling pretty crappy about myself. I had all these plans for this life that I wanted and it was being pushed back again. I was spending too much money eating out cause I didn’t feel like cooking at home cause I was just bummed all the time. It was just easier to go through a drive thru. One day I sat down with my Mom at work and was just kinda ranting on about money and life. (I work for my parents) She told me that I need to get my life together and move on. Another house would come and I can’t keep treating myself like this. That is when she suggested that I start a blog to kinda keep my mind away from all the stuff that caused me anxiety. I love food. She knows I love food. So she suggested that I should just do a recipe blog since I was having trouble finding easy recipes. I hate recipes with thousands of ingredients that I can’t pronounce or find. My mother is the one who gave me the starting point and I’ve just ran with it ever since. It has also given me another place to get ideas from other people. This community is a great place and I have had nothing but love given to me.

Advice to the Newbie:

No matter what, just be yourself. Do what you love and always have a passion for something. I am not a chef or a food professional by any means. But if you like to do something, and it makes you happy, it doesn’t matter how good you are at it. As you go along and practice, you will slowly get better and learn all kinds of new things. I had no idea that I’d reach so many people, and so many people would relate to me. There is always going to be at least one person in this world who will see things the same as you. Write to them.

  1. Hey, Taylor! Congrats on the Blogger Recognition Award! Reading about how you started the blog, I noticed you and I have many similarities and have struggled with some of the same things. One of the many reasons why I love blogging- you stumble across people who have endured the same hardships and it lets you know you’re not alone. I’m glad all is well for you now and I wanted to nominate you for another award! The Sunshine Blogger Award. No pressure to complete it though, it’s totally up to you 🙂 Here’s a link to the questions if you’re interested:

    1. Thank you so much! I really appreciate the nomination! I will defiantly make a post on Monday once I’m back at work! It really is comforting knowing that other people go through the same things as me. In the moment you always feel alone, but in hindsight, you can always reassure yourself, you aren’t the only one 🙂
