First of all, I want to say sorry that I didn’t really post much content last week! I was so busy prepping to close on my house on that Friday! But there is no more wait, I am officially a homeowner now π I wasn’t able to get everything I wanted fixed, but I was able to get it $13,000 dollars Β lower then what I had originally offered (due to the appraisal coming in lower). So here it is guys, my first home!
It isn’t anything too fancy, but it is mine π
Now here are the before pictures from as soon as going into the house the first night.
KitchenLaundry Room/Back Porch AreaKitchenLiving Room; Everything that is in the room is things that the seller “Left for us”.Living Room; Everything in this room is just stuff the seller had left.Bedroom #1; The back window is not there, so there is a piece of wood. It needs to be replaced. Also the floors have that foam children puzzle mats on them.Bedroom #2; Not a very pleasant orange with weird brown linoleum.Bathroom; This will need to have the flooring re-done because of some water damage.Attic converted into a room/ Man cave haha
Now this is my progress through the weekend!
Bedroom #1; Saturday; My mom and I primed the whole room, and painted the trim. As you can see, the flooring underneath was hardwoods, but all those stains were previously there. That is why they had it covered to begin with.Bedroom #1; Sunday; I’m not sure if you can tell or not, but my dad tore down the crappy crown molding and began replacing it with new crown molding! It looks so much better now πLiving Room; Saturday; Mom and I primedBedroom #2; Sunday; Primed with a a grey primer to get that ugly orange off. Now it’s looking a lot better!
So that is what we got done this weekend! I am super excited and can’t wait to continue showing you the great work and projects I have to come! Oh and also, the seller left this near brand-new, but very dirty crock pot at the new house too! You can never have too many crock pots! So we cleaned it out, and it looks like I’ll probably have to post some dishes made at the house while were working!
Yay !!!! Congratulations Taylor π I am so excited for you !!!! Well done.!!!! Your house is lovely, and it is all yours π I must say you and your mom worked hard this weekend hey ! Congrats, it is really really awesome ! x
Thank you so much Lynne! π And yeah, we really hustled this weekend haha I want to get all the painting done before I get the new floors put in! That’s the part I’m most excited about haha
Congratulations, your own home is a major achievement. And the work never ends, but do all you can now because over the years it becomes less exciting to DIY.
Yay – home ownership! The work is just starting, you’ll never be done… But not to worry – the previous owners left you that cool giant pink thing to keep you company during the long hours of painting!!! My first house had paint stains all over the nice hardwood floors that my husband and I found after pulling the carpet up. I found, though, that they came off with a lot of elbow grease and some simple green cleaner, so if you like the hardwood, it’s worth a shot.
I thought about redoing the hardwoods, sanding the paint off and refinishing them but we have 3 dogs, so I’d hate to restore them and then the dogs nails just tear them up And when we looked at the floors under the carpet in the living room, there wasn’t any hardwood, So I’m planning on putting some of that snap in wood laminate flooring throughout all the rooms. That way it at least all matches. And then we’ll have tile in the bathroom and kitchen.
Congratulations on your new home. What fun you will have decorating and deciding where to put things. And don’t be in too big of a hurry and push yourself. It will all come together for you. What excitement!
Congratulations! It must be so exciting to finally own a home and improving it! I can’t wait to finally buy a home with my hubby. Very happy for you π I’ll follow the updates π
My first house was a fixer up too. You’ll learn so much. Our house we bought 2.5 yrs ago was move in condition and we still did upgrades. Congratulations!

When I was a teenager, my bedroom was that color orange. Whoof! It was bright. I couldn’t imagine an orange room now π
