Another Beginning: A New House & Forward

“I am creating this blog to reach people who are like me. People who work all day, and might not have the time, or patience to cook some 5-star meal with fancy ingredients. This is for the person who shops at Walmart, Aldi, or Bi-lo (Stores may vary due to your location). I am, by no means, a chef or food professional. I am just the average 20-something year old trying to save money from stopping the fast-food rampage that my life has become.” A Fast-Food Rampage: The Beginning of the End

This was me at the beginning of this year.  A little down in the dumps and trying to save up money the best way I could; By cutting out fast food eating, and starting to cooking at home. With the money I saved, it made me accomplish my dream of owning my first home. (New House; Pretty much Complete!!!). Now I did have to save money other places as well, but this little trick did help! I bought a slightly run-down house, for pretty much dirt cheap. Some people buy cars for more than I bought this house for! But with the help of my parents (who worked almost everyday for a month) and Max, we restored the house to better than I think it was in it’s prime. In this new home all my bills are being cut in more than half. My part of the mortgage is nearly 1/3 of the money I was paying at my previous house. This is going to give me the freedom to save up even more money than before and I can afford to do all the things I want to. I will finally be able to go on my own vacations (without having to piggy back on “Family Trips” funded by my parents 😛 ).

I have accomplished so much and I can’t even begin to say how much everyone’s support has meant. It really goes to show, “If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.” Marty McFly (Back to the Future). That is one of my favorite movies 🙂 But it really is true. After a few years in this house, I’ll probably have enough money saved up to get a house I’ve always wanted, in a neighborhood that I’ve always dreamed of living in. It’s all about planning for the future and I’m glad that I can take each and every one of you along with me!

I can’t wait to bring everyone new recipes that I find and create. My new kitchen is ready to be broken in with the aromas of home made wonderfulness! If you have any requests, let me know! I always love new ideas!

And always remember, when things start getting a little wild and you might be a little be overwhelmed; “Peas Romaine Calm” cause everything will be alright in the end 🙂

With Love,

  2. You are to be commended for taking control of your finances. It requires sacrifice, sometimes a lot of not getting to do things you would like to do, or not buying things you would like to have, but in the end it pays off as you have found. Congratulations!

  7. Hi Taylor! I came over to have a look at your blog when I saw that you had liked mine 🙂 (Thank you so much for that!) and absolutely fell in love, lol. The name of your blog grabbed my attention, and the readings are wonderful as well. This one speaks volumes, as many young people never think about the ideas you’ve laid out here, for whatever reason. It sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders and are stepping in the right direction. I look forward to hearing more 🙂

  8. Congrats! You’ve accomplished so much. It is hard to get ahead in your 20s but if you work hard, you will have so much more in your 30s. You have so much good learning experiences to share on your blog. I read your posts last year and see you’ve come a long way with your house. Good luck for a great future!
