19w5d ; Anatomy Scan plus Progress:)

Hey everybody!

I just wanted to start off by saying sorry that I’ve been AWOL for the past couple months. Surprisingly enough I’ve been super busy with this whole pregnancy thing.  Who would have thought? hahaha

I just wanted to update you guys on the progress that I have been having. Today I had my anatomy scan and we were able to find out what were having 🙂

IT’S A GIRL ❤

I am so excited that we are having a little girl 🙂 All her little organs were in place perfectly and had a strong heart beat! She is 11oz and growing perfect! The due date is August 4th, 2017.

DIET

I also wanted to let you guys know what the whole eating situation I have been having to do. When I first went to the doctor back in December, they recommended that I see a dietitian because I am considered high risk because I am plus size. I was totally cool with this. I wasn’t exactly my ideal weight when I found out I was pregnant, so I wanted to make sure that I got it into check before it was too late.

They had me do early testing for Gestational Diabetes because I do have family members who have had this during pregnancy. Fortunately my results came back great and I had nothing to worry about at the moment. During my first visit with my Dietitian, Lauren, she really helped me see where I could be by the end of my pregnancy. She decided what would be best for me is to go on a semi-strict Low GI Diet.  In basic terms I couldn’t eat BREAD, RICE, POTATOES, or anything SWEET. Anything that the body could turn into sugars was going to be a big no no. Luckily Lauren made it even easier on me by giving me a list of everything that were No No foods. At this point in my pregnancy I have not gained any weight over my start weight. From the start point from my first doctors appointment till my 12 week appointment I lost roughly 10lbs (that could be also due to morning sickness haha). From 12weeks to 16 weeks  I only gained 2lbs. 16 weeks till 17weeks I gained 1 lb and from 17 weeks till today I have maintained. So since my first appointment I am still down 7 lbs. According to my dietitian, if it continue to eat on this low GI diet, I can gain minimal weight (It is almost impossible to not gain weight now that I’m hitting my 5 month mark), and be able to lose double the weight after birth.

Now don’t get me wrong, I have a cheat day every once in awhile. A girl can’t not eat a couple french fries if they are near her, I mean, come on. It’s been hard at moments but my motivation is that I want to take my little girl to Disney world one day and not get winded or not be able to keep up with her. I want to be able to teach her proper eating habits because if she gets my genes, she’s probably going to be curvy and struggle with weight her entire life. I only hope that she takes after Max and has the metabolism of 16 year old for the rest of her life.

Now I’ve thought about trying to show you guys what recipes I  typically make, but they are pretty boring. So I’m going to try and spice them up and give you some insight on my Low GI Diet.

Last but not least, I hope that everyone had a great holiday season and that the new year continues to bring you happiness 🙂

With Love,

  1. I am so super excited for both you and Max. Little girls are so precious and cute. Glad everything in your pregnancy is going well. Keep up with the Low GI way of eating, it is proving itself well. You are on the right track with your motivation, what better motivation is that. All the best, and thanks a ton for the update 🙂

  2. Very exciting times. I have 4 girls and one boy…each one a blessing! I found both Dr. Fuhrman’s recipes (www.drfuhrman.com) for low glycemic nutrition and The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding by LLL great resources, and for support, during my pregnancy and beyond. Congratulations! btw, Love the bow : )
