San Salvador

Central America

In August of 2015 I was fortunate enough to travel to El Salvador! My boyfriend’s family is from there and we went to a wedding for his cousin. We stayed for 10 days taking in all of what the country had to offer. Most of our time was spent at his grandmothers house in the center of San Salvador, El Salvador.

One of the most breath-taking views of the trip was at a home we stayed at right before the wedding. It was located near a little beach town called El Tunco and El Libertad.

It was perched on the side of a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It even had a natural swimming pool at the bottom of the rock that the waves would crash into and fill.

Max, Christian (his cousin) and Keith (his brother-in-law) ventured down first to make sure it was safe!

If you had never been outside of the United States, it might come as a bit of a culture shock. Violence and gangs are known to run the cities there. And although it is known for it’s violence and it’s problems, it is also remarkably beautiful! The views are to die for and can’t be found anywhere else in the world.

IMG_9938The food there is equally as amazing as your surroundings. Pupusas are, what I would call, the signature dish of the country. They are like little corn tortilla pancakes full of pork, cheese and beans. Topped with a fresh local slaw and hot sauce. They are so good.

I can’t wait to go back one day!

With Love,
